Stupid Cupid
I’d imagine the sweat of Cupid’s brow perfuse
for a job well done, but
never
We are easy targets to shoot from a distance
but arrow and flesh soon
sever
Was it he who uttered, “It is better to have loved and lost,
then never to have loved at all”?
So us mere mortals have no choice but submission
to Cupid’s whim we must all
fall
Cupid’s bow stays active as a butterfly’s wing
Unlimited ammo
frights
Human hands cannot remove his choice weapon
from their hearts, so the mind
fights
I’d imagine the sweat of Cupid’s brow perfuse
because people deny
the truth
But then again does Cupid even know conscience?
He’s just doing his job
Uncouth
